PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING AND DESCRIPTION and study the photos ( everything included is pictured / all original and in superb condition ) . Functional Condition ( Please read ) : Im not set up to do a complete diagnostic . When I put batteries in the device it turns on and off as it should . The red illuminated reticle comes on and turns itself off automatically as it is designed ( it is designed to stay on just 8 seconds and turn off unless you want it on longer by holding down the on/off switch ) The brightness adjustment and other functions Im unable to accurately assess . The red illumination is working but only at a very dim light level and Im unable to figure out how to brighten the illumination of the optical displays and ranging reticle . On another note ( positive ) ... when looking through the device with eyepiece covers & objective lens cover off the unit operates as a 8 x 56 monocular / binocular ( 8 power magnification 56mm Objective all German Zeiss Glass !!! ) . The device operates like a regular optic even without any batteries in it . The optical clarity and function is typical German Zeiss quality . So ... here we have a mint condition example of a superbly made Laser rangefinder that is cosmetically excellent and even the optics are superb . The problem is that the unit powers on and displays some function but is not operating as it should or could . PLEASE NOTE: perhaps someone who has better knowledge of such devices can figure it out . If I were to keep it I would try to find a service and repair shop and see if it can be made 100% functional in all areas . Part of the problem for me . is that the device has quite a few storage and display functions making it more complicated than my old man brain can understand ... ?????? Bought this gem many years ago and it has been in my collection ( in a safe since I purchased it ) A collectors dream acquisition and all components are in mint like new condition. Made my Zeiss Germany for NATO military applications / Uses regular AA batteries ( not some strange obscure military battery that is unobtainable ) ....
