Description: Yucca thompsoniana 'Oregon' Thompson's Yucca - Cold Hardy -20F! The Thompson yucca is a handsome species of yucca that grows with a single trunk (later branching after flowering) and dense crown of foliage, 6-15 ft. tall; sometimes multiple heads develop on mature plants. Stiff blue-green leaves are 1-2 ft. long, have stiff tips and together create a large yet pointed circular canopy; old leaves persist on trunks for many years unless removed. Striking clusters of creamy-white flowers occur on long stalks well above the foliage in early spring. These particular seeds were sourced from our own parent trees in the high desert of Central Oregon, U.S.A. This variation seems to produce a striking blue/silver color foliage that seem to glow in the sun! Parent trees have been growing in our cold high desert garden where they routinely see temps as low as -12F! The parent trees have survived -15F with NO DAMAGE whatsoever and we think these seeds are cold hardy to well below -20F... zone 5!! These even seem to grow much faster than standard Yucca thompsoniana! You are purchasing seeds of Yucca thompsoniana 'Oregon' (Thompson's Yucca)
