WWII Japanese Bayonet, Scabbard, Frog: Tokyo Hourglass, Type 30, Original

Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Offering this original WWII Japanese Bayonet obtained at a Garage Sale. Original owner said her father brought it home from Japan at the end of WWII. Online research of shape and markings indicates it to be a HIKARI SEIKI SEISAKUSHO ARSENAL (Tokyo Hourglass) Type 30 bayonet with its metal scabbard and leather belt frog. The serial number looks like a symbol (?) followed by 17684. The “6” looks to have possibly been changed or added later. I am not an expert on condition; but, it looks to be original showing age darkening. There is minor rust on the fasteners holding the wood handle pieces to the metal handle, inside the slot that mounts on a rifle, on the hand guard between the handle and blade, and on the scabbard where the frog mounts. See PICS. There are lightly pitted areas. The leather frog shows some light leather darkening and cracking, light rust on the metal buckle, and the 2 metal fasteners. The stitching looks good except for possibly 3 stitches missing (?) on the back side (see PIC close-up). The trio of items are really in VG-EX condition for their age.
