Description: WWII Collectors! You are bidding on the 55th cover of a set of 100 first day covers containing stamps issued in the Marshall Islands commemorating the 50th anniversaries of the 100 most significant events starting with the invasion of Poland and ending up with the end of World War II on VJ day, September 2, 1945. This 55th cover depicts the 50th Anniversary of the Casablanca Conference on January 14, 1943. From January 14 to January 24, 1943, the first war conference between the Allied Powers, was held in Casablanca, Morocco. The purpose of the conference was relatively vague. It took steps toward planning the allied strategy and the end of the war. The cover is double cancelled and the red cancellation is from Majuro proper on January 14, 1993, 50 years after the conference. The cover bears one 29 cent Casablanca Conference 1943 stamp with an inscription by Winston Churchill. The cover is signed by Sailass Andrike, Director of Post for the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The creator of the cover is also a member of the American Philatelic Society. This is a beautiful and unique cover to own and one of a limited edition. Please check out my other auctions and my Ebay Store. Thanks for looking! Click here for similar items.
