Description: This is a very nice World War I British MK III S.M.L.E. 1907 Bayonet that was taken as a war trophy by a German soldier and remains in excellent field used condition. This is a standard British Pattern 1907 bayonet and scabbard with one ricasso marked with the ‘SANDERSON’ manufacturer’s name, ‘1907’ date, ‘11-17’ rework date, and King Edward Crown. The other ricasso is marked with all the British inspection and proof marks. The fiber scabbard is strong and without damage. The handles have been painted red with one side having an Imperial German eagle in black on a cream-colored shield. This was apparently done by the German veteran who took it from the field. A seldom encountered trophy as taken by ‘the other side’. It remains a beautiful bayonet in excellent, undamaged condition and one with a very interesting but unknown history. 7706 NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
