Description: You are bidding on an BEAUTIFUL and VERY RARE example of WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy Pilot's Bail Out Survival Flag! These were issued to all navy Pilot's, in-case they ditched their aircraft over water. An essential part of the Japanese Pilot's Survival Kit, this Flag was to be used by the pilot in order to indicate and signal his position/location. Designed to float on water, it was made of lightweight parachute silk, with cork (or foam) sewn into the edges, so the flag would not sink. Also featured a lightweight fully collapsible bamboo handle, for easy storage. Made of lightweight silk, this is a VERY RARE Japanese Navy pilot’s bail-out survival flag! This specific flag features foam sewn into the edges for flotation. Some slight marks and stains, but NO holes or damage! Sadly, the bamboo extendable pole is missing, but those come up by themselves. Fully extended, the flag itself measures approx. 31" x 39". A VERY RARE and HARD TO FIND item, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
