Description: Another nice relic example of aWorld War Two GermanWehrmacht-issue CanisterfromThe 1944 Battle of Normandy Found in the Normandy town of Formingy La Bataille (just 5km inland of the US 'Omaha' D-Day Beach),the canister is in an'as found' conditionwith much of the original covered by an all-overveneer of rust by still visible in patches. Whilst the lid is still in situ, though rusted shut, the catch still works and retains its springinessand apart from a small pin-prick hole down on one side and a dent near the base as evidence of its war-time usage,at 11" in height and 3" acrossit is an attractive looking, as found, Wehrmacht canister. Another superb 'barn-found example' in France, and a cracking piece of surviving personal German field kit from the Allied heavy fighting that took place across Normandy after the June 6th D-Day Landings of 1944 (Colour image courtesy The Tomahawk Films WW-II Archive) Thanks for looking..!
