This is a beautiful oil painting of the rolling hills of the Worcestershire under a dark and threatening sky with the sun sending shafts of light through the dark clouds. The work dates from 1973 and provenance is the Colmore Galleries, Birmingham. Good sized, it measures 20 x 30 inches, with frame it is approx. 24 x 34 inches and the work is signed and dated by the artist in the lower left. It is an oil on stretched Winsor & Newton canvas and it is in its original frame labelled for the Colmore Galleries. Both frame and painting are in excellent original condition. Anthony Gibbs (b.1951) is a well regarded English wildlife and landscape artist. A native of Birmingham, he studied at the Bournville School of Art before embarking on his professional career.
