Description: Wood Workers Tools & Box Chisels Triangle Files T-Handle Auger Drills c 1800s This circa 1800s antique wood workers tool box is full of tools, described as follows: - 1/8" chisel with no markings;- 1/8" chisel marked, “CAST STEEL”;- 1/4" chisel marked, “CAST STEEL” and “E. PARKER & SONS” and “3709";- 3/8" chisel marked, “CAST STEEL”;- 3/16" triangle file. The handle appears to be marked, “NICHOLSON FILE CO.” and “PAT’D JAN.1.73.” (that would be 1873);- 5/16" triangle file. The file is stamped, “J. DAY”; whatever is stamped on the handle is unreadable;- 3/8" triangle file. The heel of the file appears to be marked, “M A STUE.” The handle is stamped, “PATD. MAR.2" and what might be “1880.”; we can’t find references to either of these markings;- 5/16" triangle file. The heel of the file is marked with a Heller Brothers logo, which is “HE__ER” over a picture of a horse, which is over the letters “ROS.”- Three t-handle auger drills, all size 5/32", no markings;- One loop handle auger drill, size 1/8", no markings;- Knife with 1-7/16" long blade and no markings;- 1/4" steel auger, no handle; and- 5/16" steel auger, no handle. Pre-owned. These very old tools and their box show plenty of signs of use and wear, mostly scratches, gouges, and plenty of patina. From the estate of our Uncle Paul, born in 1927, who collected all kinds of things in Denver, Colorado, from the mid-1950s until his untimely death in the mid-1980s.
