Writing as Carmen Sylva, Elisabeth gathered and put into written form legends and folklore from various regions of Roumania and Germany including the Hartz Mountains, Black Forest, Saxony, and elsewhere. These tales were originally written in German and translated for this volume by British translator and poet, Alma Strettell (1853-1939). A beautiful book.
