Description: Wet Plate Collodion Unbranded 4x5 Camera w/ Weichsel Dallas, TX Lens Brass lens Outfit The Wet Plate Collodion outfit has been designed for those who are wanting to get into wet plate photography with low beginning and operating costs. This outfit DOES NOT include a wet plate holder. There are some plans online on for modifying 4x5 cut film holders, or printing 3D. Holders can also be found on eBay listings. Lund holders are also available directly, or I can include one for at the same price (approximately $125-$135 additional). For your consideration: Unbranded 4x5 Camera with original bellows that are light tight. The wood has a nice patina; with the normal wear for cameras of this vintage. I did not notice any cracks or splits in the wood. The nickle trim is in nice condition with very little tarnish. All the movements work as they should, and lock in place. The camera can be mounted onto a traditional tripod with a 1/4-20" thread. The focus glass can be rotated for landscape or portrait images. Please not that the tripod in the outdoor picture is not included in this listing. The lens is a Weichsel Dallas, TX Lens that covers the 4x5 format nicely. The lens has the normal tarnish and dings that accompany vintage lenses. The lens optics are clear, with very minimal separation at the extreme edges - nothing that would affect image quality. Overall, a very nice lens that accepts waterhouse stops (non are included). You can make your own waterhouse inserts to control exposure/depth of field from cardboard or plastic. Included with the camera is one New 4x5 wet plate collodion tank for developing and fixing your images. The outer tank is made of 1/4" birch/pine, and painted with black with oil based paint. The inside of the wood tank is coated with Boiled Linseed Oil which helps preserve the wood. The lid is double hinged and has a draw catch on the front to keep the lid secure for transport (empty and not with chemicals). The inner tanks is made from 3/16" or 1/4" Acrylic that has been chemically welded, and will hold up to the chemicals used in wet plate photography. The insert is removable for cleaning. The tank can be reclined; and included the dipper for holding and agitating the glass during processing. The tank is handmade in America. Because they are not assembly-line produced, no two are alike. The glass dry rack is also New and will hold 10 plates from sizes 4x5 up to 5x7. The dry rack is also handmade in America; made from 1/4" cherry wood that is stained and coated with several layers of polyurethane. The glass/metal plate storage box is made from cherry wood, stained, and coated with several layers of polyurethane. The case will hold approximately 40 plates.
