Description: The 1979-80 Wayne Gretzky #18 Rookie Card is one of the most sought after and iconic hockey cards of all time! I got this card in a baseball card trade w/ a neighborhood friend right around 1979 or 1980 when we were in elementary school and I've been the sole owner of this card ever since. He threw in a few hockey cards and I just put them aside because I didn't collect hockey cards. Gretzky's name rang a bell when he started becoming well known and I went back to those cards and sure enough, I had this rookie in that batch of forgotten hockey cards! I just had this graded in October 2024 and now it's time to pass it along to the next passionate collector. A NOTE ON THE AUTHENTIC GRADE:Unfortunately, it is a known issue that many 1979-80 Topps Wayne Gretzky cards were cut too small (compared to the rest of the set) as they left the factory floor. This manufacturing error was not due to any human intervention after the fact, but simply due to poor quality control at the time of production.
