Description: Walter Emerson Baum. 1884-1956.Famous Pennsylvania Impressionist and one of the few who was born in Bucks County, PA.He studied with William Trego.He also studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia.Fortunately, most of the label which was found on verso of this painting has survived. We are still trying to find the additional missing piece (see photo of label). It gives the date of an exhibition of watercolor paintings at the Academy of Fine Arts on October 14, 1935, when this painting was exhibited. It was likely painted before then.Experts agree that Baum's peak period included the 1920's-1930's, when he produced many of his best works. Perhaps this painting was done with the exhibition in mind or perhaps it was one he brought along with other paintings.Part of the title is missing, but it is believed to be: "Road to Easton" and it seems likely that it could have been painted from near Easton, looking south.Opinion of ebay viewers as to the location is appreciated.Gouache with watercolor highlights on paper.32-1/2" X 40-1/2" (including original frame).21" X 29-1/4" (artwork sight/ not including mat and frame).PLEASE NOTE: For FRAMED artwork, local pickup only.
