Description: VTG US WW2 U.S.A.F. 8th Air Depot Group Gold Coast Ghana Africa Personalized Very unique knife found at an estate sale. Back of sheath reads:"S/SGT. B. Kruglak 8th A.D.G. SUP. SQDN." Based on my research, this checks out as Sergeant Bernard Kruglak of the US Air Force 8th Air Depot Group Supply Squadron. They were based in Gold Goast (Ghana) Africa during WW2. Bernard was a Ukrainian born US Soldier from the Milwaukee, WI area. The knife itself is very unique and unusual. I presume he may have come into possession of it while in Africa. Handle is a dark tone wood mixed with another material that I cannot place. This material makes up the butt as well as two other strips of the handle. Looks like thin bands of brass separating the rings. Material is partially translucent as you can see in one of the photos. I cannot find any markings on the knife, other than a crude letter "B" etched into the butt end. Knife measures approx. 11.5" long in total (blade alone measures approx. 7 1/8" long). Weighs 6.3oz. without the sheath. Check out the photos which show the actual item you will receive.
