Description: Today I am offering this fabulous vintage carved wooden Polynesian tiki God, I believe is a mid-century modern era souvenir from the islands of Tonga. It represents an ancient culture and their spiritual beliefs. I don't know what kind of wood it is but the color is variegated and mostly darker in the back and more golden in front. This handsome fellow has a grinning or menacing face, I'm not sure which. He has a cool curve or wave shape. The TONGA name is incised in the front base. It measures 9" tall, approximately 1" front to back, and about 1" wide from side to side. He's difficult to measure accurately due to the curve. He's in great vintage pre-owned condition with no damage. There are, of course, small natural imperfections in the wood, as that is the nature of the material. This will be a perfect addition to your 1950s-60s Tiki bar or Hawaiian/South Pacific themed decor. Please review all the pictures and zoom in for close-ups as they are an integral part of the description. Please check my other listings for a similar tiki and request a shipping discount for multiple purchases. Here's some history of Tonga: Tonga is a Polynesian kingdom of more than 170 South Pacific islands, many uninhabited, most lined in white beaches and coral reefs and covered with tropical rainforest. The main island, Tongatapu, is protected by lagoons and limestone cliffs. Its home to the rural capital of Nuku'alofa, as well as beach resorts, plantations and the Ha'amonga a Maui, a monumental coral gate from the 1200s.
