Description: This is a collector's unique piece with aerography from the World War II era, the Schott Flight Jacket IS 674 MS bomber model. YEAR: According to Schott customer support, this model was produced between 1960 and 1980, depending on the destination country, color, etc. This particular piece is likely from the 60s-70s, early releases (in my opinion only). 22 photos (from Schott NYC catalog in a different color). IS674MS is a label intended for use on all styles of A2 flight jackets. The jacket is named after the Melvin Schott Cigar and IS674MS also represents something. The first 2 letters "IS" represent Irving Schott, the company's founder, style 674 was the original A2 jacket they made, and the last 2 letters "MS" represented Melvin Schott. [information obtained from Schott NYC customer support] The size is marked 40, which is European M-L, and can also fit S as a slightly oversized bomber. It looks and sits on the body incredibly well. Measurements: Chest 44.1 in (112 cm) Length 25.2 in (64 cm) Shoulders 18.5 in (47 cm) Sleeve Length 25.2 in (64 cm) Hem 37.8 in (96 cm) The jacket is made of high-quality cowhide leather. This is thick, sturdy leather that provides good protection against wind and cold. The condition for its age is perfect, the aerography is in stunning condition. The leather is dried in some places. There are multiple abrasions and cracks in vulnerable areas, without holes. The knit is in perfect condition. The zipper guide barely holds and needs to be sewn on a new base as the jacket does not fasten. The zipper itself is in perfect condition. The diamond-quilted lining with insulation is in perfect condition without tears. The lining in the pockets is destroyed, only scraps remain inside, and a new one needs to be made. I intentionally did not do anything to preserve the authenticity of this jacket, it is up to the buyer. Whether to restore it or not is up to you. The Talon zipper (23 photos) corresponds to the age of the jacket and is in perfect condition. The detail is the absence of the standard pull tab, replaced by a ring. It has a Talon engraving on the front side. On the sides, there is engraving with "USA" on one side and "Talon" on the other. There is engraving on the bottom stop box with the letter T. The button fasteners located on the top, bottom, and both flap pockets are from the authoritative Scovill MFG CO brand, all functional (23 photos). Unfortunately, due to age, the main inner tag near the neck is missing, leaving only the tag with the size and some remnants of the material. The contour where it was located is visible. On the last photo on the right, I have added a tag that should be there, which is from the internet. The same goes for the inner bottom tag, where a piece remains and a lot of information is visible, allowing you to understand what should be there. After analyzing the existing text and jackets from the same years on the internet, I found a tag with the same text that is visible and added it to the ninth photo on the right. The name "R. Sherman" was written at the bottom and "Leather Cleaners INC" below that. Color: Black, the knitwear is brown. Airbrushing It is quite possible that the owner of the jacket was a member of the 86th Fighter Squadron and participated in World War II or was related to someone who did. The year the jacket was made + the approximate age of the owner. 1st logo. The Comanches logo (Photos 9,10,11) was designed by Charles A. Farkuar and Everly J. McGrath. It was used by the 86th Fighter Squadron, which was part of the 79th Fighter Group of the "Eighth Air Force of the United States." The cartoon character with a beckoning finger challenges anyone who dares. The satisfied grin on his face represents the pleasure he received from his latest victim, as blood drips from his tomahawk. The combat headdress made of colored feathers blows provocatively in the wind. 2st logo. The Joker's Wild logo (Photo 12) was used by many squadrons during World War II. It symbolized the idea of risk and luck, as well as independence and a gambling spirit. For example, the 497th Bombardment Group used it on their B-29 Superfortress in their missions against Japanese targets.
