His is a November 1971 fourth printing, and hers is an October 1972 eleventh printing. Both are 1020 pages and measure 8.75" x 6" x 2". Covers are padded, and the binding is Smyth-sewn, allowing these Bibles to lay flat when opened to facilitate study. This Bible translation paraphrases the Old and New Testaments, restating the authors' thoughts simply and sometimes in different words to make meanings clear for modern readers. It is an easy-to-read version, especially helpful for first-time readers of the Bible and those who struggle with traditional translations. Footnotes appear on nearly every page. As a bonus, there are 5 interesting diagrams between the Old Testament and New, including Ezekiel's Temple, plans of the temple, and allotment of land. The 1971 Bible has yellow highlighting on 39 pages (3.8% of book); one sample photo is given. The 1972 Bible has some margin notes, some underlining, and some ellipsis marks around passages on 87 scripture pages (8.5% of book), as well as notes written on 4 of the blank pages.
