Description: Vintage Couroc of Monterey Serving Tray made for the Monterey Plaza Hotel depicting the iconic cypress tree associated with the Monterey area and the hotel's logo in brass. This depiction, titled "Monterey Cypress", was designed by the Pebble Beach developer, S.F.B. Morse, for Couroc of Monterey. Note his "signature" in the lower right corner. The hotel was built in the 1980's, so would date it to that time period. The Couroc Company was founded by Guthrie Courvoisier and his wife Moira Wallace, who was an artist, in 1948. They designed and made thousands of trays, bowls & accessories which were hand inlaid by master craftsmen using shells, coins, woods & metals. Each piece is one of a kind. Sadly, Couroc stopped production of these beautiful trays in 1998. One of the company's advertisement states "Any tray can serve a drink. Only Couroc can start a conversation." Still true to this day.
