Description: Vtg MICHAEL HARRIS MDINA MALTA ART GLASS CUT ICE FISH LOLLIPOP VASE SIGNED. In excellent preowned condition. No chips or cracks. Light surface markings at base typically found in vintage vases. Other than that, it’s magnificent and a rather scarce vintage piece. Cut ice fish vase designed by the legendary Michael Harris for the quality makers Mdina of Malta. This stunning example has a sleek, clean-lined modernist form with a beautifully rounded body leading to a slender neck. A striking combination of aqua blue, tiger spots and golden sandy yellow are encased within the form, the stunning colours combining to create a magnificent range of tones and random effects. A subtle opalescence appears within the slender neck. The front face of the vase has been masterfully cut to form two sleekly curved panels which beautifully distorts the light and radiates light throughout the vessel. The thick sparkling clear glass casing acts like a lens, spectacularly magnifying and distorting the colours within to create striking optical effects. The colours perfectly capture the radiant sparkling colours of the sea and are wonderfully displayed within the sleek cased form. A beautifully designed, masterfully hand crafted and perfectly proportioned piece with an exquisite colour combination! The Mdina glassworks was founded by the renowned glass maker Michael Harris circa 1968. Harris was deeply inspired by the beauty of the Island and the colours used in the glass reflect the sun, sea and sand of the Mediterranean paradise. The influence of the Islands beauty is certainly reflected in this magnificent piece we are currently offering for sale. The stunning sparkling colours instantly transport one to the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. This fine Michael Harris designed example of quality Mdina art glass is presented in very good vintage condition with just the tiniest shallow nibble to the side of the quality flat ground polished base. This minuscule flaw is noticeable only on extremely close examination and not at all detectable when the piece is on display. Apart from this tiny flake of a nibble, this piece cannot be faulted. This stunning example has been very well cared for and presents spectacularly. This piece is beautifully signed with an engraved mark to the base “Mdina”. This fantastic piece would make a fine addition to any Michael Harris, Mdina, Phoenician, or quality hand made art glass collection. A wonderfully artistic feature for any coastal, beachside or modern contemporary home. A perfect gift idea for the discerning admirer of fine quality individual and unique vintage objects of sheer beauty. Rest assured, all items are professionally packaged to the highest of standards!
