Description: The Samuel Music company of Effingham, Illinois (founded 1946) decided to launch its own brand of guitars, Vester, in the late 1980s. They were typically manufactured in Southeast Asia. The serial number on this guitar, E735245, indicates that it was made in 1987-1988 by Yen Chang of South Korea. (If you know pianos, you are likely familiar with Yen Chang.) The guitar features two single coils and a splittable humbucker pickup.There is a toggle switch for each pickup. The toggles for the single coils are off-on; the toggle for the humbucker has three positions (middle is off). The uploaded video should give you some idea of the sound, tho I am no guitarist.All the pickups, toggles, and knobs work well. I don't seem to get lots of volume out of the guitar when I play clean, but when I play it through some overdrive, it really ramps up. Maple neck which seems quite straight, and octaves, etc. seem to play true.This particular fingerboard does not have inlays on fretboard. It plays so easily. The tuners look like Grover tuners but I cannot verify that they are authentic Grovers. The tuners all work well and the guitar holds its tune for a long time under ordinary conditions.Bridge micro-tuners.Accommodates a push-in whammy bar (not a screw-in) however that is missing here.There is fine cracking on the body where the neck meets the body, but it appears to be superficial.There is a crack of the plastic at one corner of the humbucker as if someone tried to screw it down too tightly.There is a dent on the upper side, a scuffy scratch along the bottom edge; a chip at the top of the headstock affecting only the finish, and a few other minor scratches here and there.Because of the lack of the whammy bar, I had to put in some spacers on the backside of the guitar to the bridge from rising when tightening strings. Cosmetically, could use a good cleaning. This is being sold via UPS, so I am not able to ship to a PO Box.I will add "signature required" unless buyer requests me not to.
