Description: Very vintage Dalton Special Wood Lure in Green perch Color (not positive of the color). I source of info for this lure is Carl Luckey's Book called Old Fishing Lures and Tackle. You can find this info on page 258 and 259. According to the book Dalton Special was started in 1920s by Phillip Porter of Tampa, Florida hence \that is why Tampa, Florida is stamped on this lure. For its age it is in very good condition. Speaking of age, I am guessing it was produced in the 1930s to very early 1940s. The paint is good with only minor spot or 2. The name stamped on the bottom is fading but still legible with a magnifying glass. It measures from the very tip of the line tie to the very end of the hook bracket 4.5". The reason Shakespeare is on the spinner is because he had Shakespeare make them due to overwhelming production demand. This relationship ended in 1942 due to a falling out with Shakespeare. In the day, these lures were hot to catch fish which is where the high demand came from and hence it is how Shakespeare got into it with Phillip Porter, owner of the Dalton Lures. Another interesting feature about this lure is the rotation of the name on the belly. Most, if not all, of the ones I have seen the name is printed across the lure this one is printed lengthwise don't know if it means anything but just saying what it is. Thanks for looking!! God bless!!!
