Angela Morgan (1875-1957) was born in Washington, D.C., but moved to Kansas when her father started a business and a law practice that were both unsuccessful. To support her mother and her sisters, she wrote for the Chicago Daily American. Although she had held several positions in the literary world, her peers did not regard her as poets of rank. Her poems and writings are full of hope and voice of optimism despite her financial problems. She participated in the International Congress of Women at The Hague in 1915 and subsequent activities of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. The author of numerous poems and other literary works, she "projected a clear vision of a new social order". Throughout her work runs the prophecy of the triumph of new moral values and a strong identification with the "downtrodden masses".
