Description: This one-of-a kind pop art desk lamp or night was created from a vintage smudge pot. Smudge pots were used in street construction, filled with kerosene, and burned at night to warn drivers of street hazards. They disappeared with the emergence of reliable battery powered flashers. This smudge pot was converted to a night light and whimsically modified to look like a bomb from a Road Runner cartoon or a Mad Magazine Spy versus Spy cartoon. This lamp was created for me by my grandfather in the early 1970's and is from my dad's estate . He used a standard red night light bulb (C7 shape E12 threads), applied hand painted TNT lettering, and attached a cord fuse to the top. The original embossed factory applied marks are prominently displayed. It has small dents and paint scuffs. I personally used this night light in my room as a child for years, stored it for years as an adult, and am ready to pass it on to a new home.
