Description: VINTAGE "THE SCHOLAR" PAPERWEIGHT OR PAPER CLIP/BILL HOLDER BY JUDD MFG. CO. A sand cast brass paper weight that does double duty as a spring held paper clip or bill holder. The casting is of a 17th century scholar studying a bound manuscript of his day. The item bears number 5259. It measures 4" long by approximately 2" wide. Manufactured by the H.L. Judd Company of Wallingford, Connecticut, probably in the first part of the last century. The item is darker than shown in the pictures. It has been lightened to show details. It can be polished to the finish as shown. I refrained from doing so, as I like the aged, patina look. The only moving part on the item is the spring clip. It functions perfectly.
