Description: Adorable all original 1930 era cotton Sunbonnet quilt from the 1930's. Jadeite green squares form four rows of four all hand sewn Sunbonnet babies each with a different fabric pattern for their hat and dress. I believe the cotton used for this quilt project were from feed sacks; a gift to a farmer's wife after a purchase at a merchants dry goods store. Each Sunbonnet baby measures just over 9 inches tall. An unbleached natural cream color cotton backing graces the underside. This quilt does not have any stuffing or batting and was used to brush off the chill on cool summer evenings or to simply cheer up a room in warm weather. Carefully sewn by hand..the quilt is a testament to the talent and hard work of the women during the lean years of the depression era. The quilt is in very good condition. There are no holes, tears or worn spots. A few threads are loose on a couple of their little bonnet's edges and there are a few small/tiny stains from generations of trunk storage. The quilt was lightly and sparingly used and stored with care. Looks like it would fit a twin bed with plenty to spare. Will cheer up any room..and cute enough to hang/display.
