Description: Welcome and thank you for visiting my auction. For your consideration this very rare vintage Saint Kieran Fighting Irish Norte Dame Football Style Jersey. This is the real deal and not some fake reproduction. It was manufactured by the Lansing Sport Shop many years ago. I inherited this Magical shirt from a Dear relative of mine and it has a wonderful history. If you watch the video, you can see that there has been some mending done to the shirt over the years including a small tear on the back that is sort of fixed. The tear likely came from some fighting Irish Men. There’s also a couple of marks on the left shoulder. These details just give this vintage sports jersey more personality, and the unique look will allow you to tell a better story about it over a few pints at the pub! This vintage Fighting Irish jersey has definitely seen some action over the years, and probably even a few fights and many nights of Blarney over pints. It belonged to an Irishman so it’s definitely lived a full life and it still has many years of action left in it! If you enjoy authentic vintage sports apparel then this is for you! Show your Irish pride by wearing this truly special jersey! This is a man’s size medium with a little extra room, and here are some approximate measurements: 20 inches across the chest from under arm to under arm 30 inches from the top of the collar measured down the back to the waist I have been selling vintage goods and collecting vintage goods for over 50 years and this is truly a special piece that you will never find anywhere! It is truly one of a kind! Just in case you’re wondering here is some history about Saint Kieran: Known as Saint Kieran the Younger is not to be confused with St. Keiran (or Ciaran) of Saigir. Both are Irish saints. Saint Kieran, born in Ireland in 516, is considered one of the Twelve Apostles of Ireland. As a boy Kieran worked heading cattle before he began his education. When the saint attended St. Finian in Clonard, he became one of the most knowledgeable monks on the campus. It was said of him “He was a lamp, blazing with the light of wisdom.” After a few years, he departed from his monastic brothers and went on to start his own monastery called Clonmacnoise. The monastery become one of the greatest literary schools in Ireland. It produced some of the greatest works of literature and art in Ireland. The ruins of the school remain standing today. While the monastery survived the invasion of the Vikings and the Noman wars, most of if was later plundered and destroyed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1552. The monastic treasures were dispersed with the Clonmacnoise Crozier, the staff of office, now found in the National Library of Ireland.Saint Kieran is remembered for his profound influence on higher education in Ireland. The Feast of St. Kieran is celebrated on September 9. 🍀🍀🍀🍀 Please note that I ship once or twice a week. I am always available to help and answer your questions, and I stand behind my sales.
