Description: This listing is for a vintage Redmon picnic basket with a wooden double hinged top made by Redmon in Peru, Indiana. Beautiful red, black, and yellow tartan plaid exterior. Woven tan border around the exterior base and metal handles. Features an elastic strip on the inside of the hinged lid intended for holding silverware. This basket measures approximately 20" long, 11.5" wide, and 11.25" tall. It is in very nice condition for its age. These types of baskets were manufactured in the United States and have a charming retro style. I estimate this basket was made somewhere from the late 1960's to early 1970's. (Prior to 1960, Redmon baskets were marked "Red-Man.") This picnic basket is perfect for outdoor activities such as camping and hiking, and it will add a touch of nostalgia to any picnic.
