Description: Beautiful vintage blue opaline glass covered compote made by Portieux Vallerysthal of France & Germany. If I am understanding the history of this company correctly, I believe this dates to the 1920-30s. This piece has a lovely opaque turquoise blue color (I don't think the photos actually do it justice, there is a bit more green to it than it appears, but I could not adjust the tint!) with just a hint of translucence in bright light. The mold work is excellent, with beaded lines, scalloped edges and a pretty finial, and it measures about 8 3/4" tall with the lid on. The bowl measures about 6 1/4" in diameter and the base about 3 1/2" in diameter. Both the lid and the bowl are in excellent condition with no issues whatsoever; it came from the estate of a glass collector who really took good care of her pieces.
