Description: Vintage PAIR Murano Glass Hurricane Candle Lamps-Seguso/Barovier&Toso-MCM-EX! DIMENSIONS: Assembled: 12" tall x 6" x 4 1/2". Shades alone: 8 1/4" tall x 4" max. diam. Base alone, including fittings: 5" tall. Total weight: approx. 4 lbs. ea. DESCRIPTION: Pair of vintage art glass candle lamps. Mouth blown glass with internal decoration. The bases are heavy gold bullicante glass in diamond pattern with applied handle. The shades are mouth blown colorless clear glass with spiral pattern. Solid brass fittings. All original. Notice that although these were only ever used as candle holders they were designed to be convertible to electric lamps if so desired (the bases have a cord notch on the underside to facilitate this). Maker's marks: none. Manufacturer unknown. I find these variously attributed to Seguso as well as Barovier & Toso. Mid 20th century. Italy (Murano). More photos available on request. GLASS CONDITION: The shades and bases are in excellent original condition. No damage and no significant wear. No restorations, repairs. No nicks, chips, flakes, dings, cracks, scuffs. No significant rubs or scratches. Very clean as found. No stains, discolorations, scale. Some typical roughness along the unfinished bottom edges of the shades (all hidden when in place). BRASS FITTINGS CONDITION: The brass fittings are lacquered and there is some typical irregular age-related oxidation to the brass in places where the lacquer has failed. Otherwise all fittings are in very good original condition with no damage and no significant wear. No restorations/repairs. No bends, breaks, splits, creases, dents. No significant rubs or scratches. No corrosion or significant oxidation. Some light / superficial green staining from candle wax. Otherwise generally clean as found with no candle residue per se. Some light typical handling wear to the brass: scattered superficial rubs and scratches. Nothing significant / conspicuous.
