Description: Check out this super cool, late 1940's, straight up Art Deco rotary phone! It's a North Electric Galion Rotary Telephone in Black Bakelite, looks great, untested! Disclaimer: We are NOT telephone repairman. Although... my Father in Law WAS the Lineman for the County at one point.... but I digress. PLEASE look over the pics and ask any questions you may have! What you read here is my best guess about the age and nature of this phone, attained by good old fashioned Googlin'! WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR: This came from an estate sale and it was pretty dirty with a dull finish. Pretty much just wiped off the dirt, used a steamer to clean it off and then buffed it a bit with a mild polishing compound. Came our right nice, if I do say so! CONDITION: This is USED and is UNTESTED. Consider it a collectible / restorable / display piece! The finish is fairly shiny now, but you still find plenty of scuffs and dings from age and use. It would benefit from a bit more elbow grease and polishing. At the back of the cradle, there is a small chip broken out of the plastic.... it's pretty minor and invisible while the phone is on the hook.... even off the hook, it's not uber noticeable. The phone is missing the center cap on the dial center which holds the phone number. The dial on the phone is bright white with nice vibrant numbers. There is a chip right beside the number 1. The chrome finger dial ring is bright and shiny as well. And... the coolest part... it is smooth as silk, silent when you dial to the right and making that fantastic 'Rotary Phone' Sound when returning. Just like it should! CORDS: The phone has both cords, the handset and the wall cord. The wall cord is wired to a four prong jack. There is some damage to the handset cord very close to the handset... see the pics. All in all, this is a great looking phone, which should be restorable.... there are some nice pics of the inside.... take a look! Everything is still hooked up. I wiped off the guts in there and found a few dates... most are 1948.
