Description: Here is a very interesting MCM chair from the Otto Gerdau Co. of Jersey City, NJ. This company evidently imported quite a bit of furniture from Italy during the heyday of midcentury modern. This chair seems slightly smaller than their average dining chair so it may have just been used as an accent chair for general purposes. It is certainly in the style of Gio Ponti chairs of this period. The color is quite striking especially against the black frame. I think it's a plum color, but my wife sees it more as a terracotta which I suppose is not surprising as people see colors quite differently all the time. I think the pictures are accurate so what color does it look like to you? Also worth mentioning, the seat is a strong fabric maybe a wool blend of sorts as opposed to the usual rush/rattan seats that we see all the time. The condition is still very good, especially for its age, with a few flaws as mentioned above. Overall a lovely piece of midcentury minimalism with a nice contrast of colors looking for its next adventure in the world of great design.
