Description: VINTAGE mcm barrell DRUM Hanging light, - COLONIAL PATTERN 21" TALL WORKS What a Super rare find! Most of these laps were lost to UV or light bulb damaged lampshade. Those old bulbs were hot! Those bulbs caught more than one lampshade on fire. You combine old bulbs, UV damage, and the coated paper/fabric these were made of, super surprised to see one in this good of shape. With the origan of this lamp from some time in the 50’s to 70’s it has only minor issues. Let’s start with the corde it is about 20 feet in length. The jacket shows wear at what looks like a crimp points, closer to the plug end of the cord, and at the tail of the plug (see photos). Best news is it works and this wear does not seem to compromise the integrity of the cord. The metal chain is about 9 ft in length it does show age. The shade/ lamp is 12” in diameter and 21” high. Now the shade is in amazing condition for age. I small snag one bad spot on the interior of the shade and rim has some wear, review rim closely for condition (please review photos). The shade diffuser has the most age issues, it is very yellowed! During this time period when the lamp was used, strong UV from the windows, the bulbs caused yellowing/browning and we can not discount the common fact that most everyone smoked in their homes. The beautiful American colonial pattern fabric in the brown goldenrod and avocado was a popular motif for rumpus/family rooms. This hanging lamp would be just the thing to light up your mid-mod décor. With the modern UV windows in homes and the new super safe bulbs it should still have a long life.
