Description: Vintage Max Weber The Cubist Decade Art Exhibit Poster Chinese Restaurant 1992 While known as a pioneer of cubism in America, Max Weber explored many styles in his work, including Fauvism, Expressionism and abstraction. His earlier works walk the line between figurative and abstract, with heavy strokes and broken lines, revealing the influence of a range of European artists—from Cézanne and Matisse to Picasso and Braque—as well as early American modernism. Weber described his process as painting with his “consciousness”, and later he would focus solely on Jewish and Eastern European themes, per his origins, exploring them through a more expressionistic style. Chinese Restaurant--This work depicts a Chinese restaurant, one of the many that were opening in New York City in the early twentieth century as a growing number of Asia immigrants settled in America. Max Weber, an immigrant himself, sought to capture the hustle-and-bustle and ornate decor typical of New York's Chinese restaurants. Good, pre-owned, vintage condition. There are crinkles/waves from storage; poster will need to be flattened before display. Rare poster/print. Measures about 24"L x 26"W Ships from a smoke free, pet free home. Thanks for viewing!!
