Description: An Australian made KANDE hurricane lamp from circa 1930s - 40s. The company had a factory in Surry Hills, Sydney. They were better known for the Kande tin baking pans and tins but also made hurricane lamps. This example is fitted with a green glass globe (looks aqua blue but shows a green light when lit). The fuel tank has been painted green at one time but the rest of the lamp is in unpainted condition. The glasses came in various colours including red, green, amber and clear. The lamps with red and green glass globes were used by some railway authorities and were also used by some Councils and road authorities as early hazard warning lamps. The lamp is complete and in good condition with minor wear and tear and some minor surface rust but no major rust issues.
