Chris Teller was born into the Isleta Pueblo in 1956. (Lucero is her married name). She grew up and learned to make pottery from her mother Stella. She began making pottery at the age of 25 and began selling pottery at the Santa Fe Indian Market before she was 30. She likes to make figures: storytellers, nativities and sculptures. Chris and her mother normally paint their storytellers with sleeping eyes, with a "singing" open mouth. Her babies are often also singing. The Tellers are the only Isleta Pueblo potters making storytellers from scratch. Their pottery is in high demand for its incredible beauty and quality. Please zoom in on photos to see condition
