Description: This vintage Ironstone China chamber pot is made by J. & G. Meakin in Hanley, England. This original piece features a classic white color with a typical blue/grey tint. Measures 8 1/2 inches in diameter, 10 inches wide including handle, and about 5 inches high. No chips, no cracks, no crazing, some wear, minor scratching. Imperfections from manufacturing are typical and include voids in the glaze, three inside spots indicate that it was held up in the kiln with supports on the inside as opposed to from the bottom. Handle is very sturdy but there are some imperfections at the attachment points. Not unusual as chamber pots would typically have less exacting specifications. Not perfect but true to the time period, which was probably around 1900.
