The description below is my opinion of the item as I see it. It is unclear as to whether this piece is from the 1930s or 1940s. I find conflicting information in my research; however one thing is common, Henry à la Pensée jewelry is hard to find in great vintage condition. Add a touch of elegance to your outfit with this vintage bracelet from Henry à la Pensée. The Art Deco inspired design showcases retro 30s-40s style and features gold tone and suede materials. This piece came from a large estate. I did not attempt to clean this bracelet as I did not want to damage it. I will leave it up to you to clean it how you see fit. Some folks could care less and would just put it on and go. The black is suede, which is highly unusual for jewelry today, but common in some of the Pensee pieces. In my opinion, it is in great vintage condition. The gold tone is as I pictured is super bright and shining. The metal on the front flower with stones is not as shiny and appears to simply be a different metal than the main piece and added to the top. The underside needs cleaning or may show some signs of wear, but who cares! The crystals or glass stones (or whatever) are beaming, maybe not as brightly as they once were, but none are darkened and they are all securely in place. The safety clasp and chain is slightly discolored and not as shiny as it once was. The only “flaw” I see, is shown in the last 2 images. This is not a big deal to me and I don’t want to fix it is on the small loop that holds the clasp. It is just bent. I can still use the clasp just fine. I would imagine a small tweak with some jewelry players would bring it back to where it was, but I didn’t want to risk bending & breaking the loop. Some folks would careless about this and others may fix it. I am just super picky when looking over items and I only noticed this when trying it on. All in all, I think you will be quite thrilled with this piece. When I showed the images to my parents, who are in their 80s, they were amazed by the condition of it and a piece this old. Henry à la Pensée Began in the 1800s as an upscale boutique in Paris selling high end clothing, gifts and accessories. The company continued to grow and open up more boutiques in France and in the late 1930s opened up a Flagship store in New York. The company focused primarily on upscale clothing, gifts and soft line accessories. There was not an over abundance of jewelry manufactured so it is difficult to find pieces in fine condition.
