Description: FOR THE REAL FANATIC PHILLY’S FAN! Vintage Hanna Batrite Special Fire Treated No. FTA Callison Style 34” Wood Bat Best described as a piece of history from mid-60’s (Callison’s hey-day in MLB). Johnny Callison was a favorite of Philadelphia Phillies fans in the 1960’s. His career spanned 16 seasons with 1960-1969 in Philly. From 1962 through 1965 Callison led all National League outfielders in assists. In the 1962 season Callison batted .300 with 23 homers… tying the record for any Phillies left-handed hitter in Shibe Park/Connie Mack Stadium. He broke that record each of the next three seasons, hitting 26, 31, and 32 homers. He reached double figures in triples for five consecutive seasons, 1961 through 1965, once leading the National League and once tying. For Callison, 1964 was his best year. In July he won the All-Star game with a dramatic ninth-inning three run homer off Boston’s premier reliever, Dick “the Monster” Radatz. At the time, it was only the third walk-off homer in All-Star history: the others were hit by Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Stan Musial. In 1969 the Phillies traded him to the Chicago Cubs. After a couple of seasons with the Cubs, Callison was sent to the Yankees, where he finished his career in 1973.
