Description: Vintage Gino Charles Beaded Evening Gown 1960sThis playful, knee-length shift dress is by Gino Charles, a company founded in 1966 by well regarded American designers Teal 'Gino' Traina and Malcolm Charles Starr. Tailored from rich cream raw silk, it is adorned in a geometric pattern across the top of the front and rear of the bodice. The striking combination is made up of silver and sheer iridescent sequins, white bugle beads, and polished and faceted white, turquoise and orange plastic beads. The beadwork forms an inverted V-shape along the under bust / high waist. The dress has front pockets hidden in the princess seams and is fully lined in cotton sateen. Secured at the back with a concealed tonal zip and single hook-and-eye clasp (hook part needs replacing). The label reads “Gino Charles REG’D. T.M.” which indicates that this piece was created in the late 60s and is an early design from this collectible label. Made in Hong Kong, an area renowned at the time for the quality of its bead and sequin work. This dress is in very good to excellent vintage condition overall. There is one small mark as seen in my photos. I only saw one loose bead that just needs to be stitched but it didn't look like any beads were missing. There is an elastic band that has been tacked inside the waist. This can easily be removed but I will leave it as is. Please check these measurements for your proper fit. Pit to pit is 18"Waist is 14 1/2" The dress has no age related smells and comes from a smoke free home.
