Description: Vintage Gem City Ice Cream Advertising Ice Cream Scoop Dayton, Ohio My mom grew up in Tipp City, Ohio in the 1920's-1930's and they always had Gem City Ice Cream. There is a large Gem City Ice Cream advertisement painted on the side of a building in Tipp City which has been preserved. I believe this scoop is from the 1940's as I remember we were using it in the early 1950's. The Gem City Ice Cream Company was founded in 1901 in Dayton, Ohio and was one of the first commercial ice cream companies in Ohio. It was located in the Wright Brothers' neighborhood and there was some indication that the Wright Brothers' bicycle shop was in the same original building although that has recently come into question. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places. However, the founder of Gem City Ice Cream, George Doyle Antrim had a close relationship with the Wright Brothers. This is an aluminum scoop with a bottle opener at the handle. It is approximately 8 inches long and approximately 2 1/2 inches wide at the widest part of the scoop. Perfect for making ice cream sodas--a delicious ice cream treat no one knows how to make any more. It is in vintage condition as the surface shows wear, but it has no bends, nicks or other damage and it appears the bottle opener has not been used. (Please see photos.) The scoop is still fairly sharp. A wonderful old collectible for the ice cream advertising collector, Gem City collector, Dayton area collector or to use for the nostalgia of Gem City lovers. Please message with any questions or if more photos are required. Some international shipping. Will combine on shipping. Will be carefully packed in a box for safe shipment. Please choose either USPS Ground Advantage or Priority shipping.
