Description: This No-Reserve Auction features a genuine ticket from the inaugural 2008 Winter Classic outdoor hockey game. The pictures shown are of the exact item you will receive. This ticket is from the first game in what would become an annual New Year’s tradition for the NHL. This outdoor game was played on January 1, 2008, at Ralph Wilson Stadium (home of the Buffalo Bills) in Orchard Park, NY. The Buffalo Sabres hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins in a competitive game that was fitting for the advertised “Winter Classic”. Tied 1-1 after regulation and overtime, the Penguins won on a shootout goal from Sidney Crosby, giving Pittsburgh a 2-1 victory. The crisp, full ticket stub (the “to be detached by the usher” part is intact, although heavily folded and partially detached: see final picture) has light rounding and wear on all 4 corners. In addition to the previously-mentioned near terminal tear of the main stub part, there is a full length horizontal crease near the middle, several heavy diagonal creases, and lesser creases, folds, and wrinkles scattered throughout the ticket. Beyond these imperfections, you have a decent full ticket from this memorable game in a popular series, with vivid colors and no holes, rough edges, obvious stains, or missing pieces. The ticket is protected in a protective plastic sleeve in which it will be shipped FREE by USPS First Class Mail, surrounded by cardboard for extra protection.Good luck and happy bidding!
