Description: This is an antique or vintage pillowcase with beautiful embroidery and cutwork. It is a standard size, measuring 30 by 21," and is made of a finely woven cotton fabric, thick and soft. It has no side seams and no label for maker. The front edge is decorated with a lovely pattern of embroidery in blue: a crescent of small flowers flanked with large cutwork roses. The edge is scalloped and overcast, even on the back. It is very fine work. I took a lot of photos of the embroidery - sometimes the fabric looks dark or yellowed but it is really white. I have laundered and pressed this and found the fabric to be in sound condition, soft and strong and not brittle. (I always wash vintage linens to make sure they are still good - don't want you to get something that will disintegrate.) The front is in excellent shape; however, I found two smudges on the back that almost came out with one laundering but not quite. These are shown in the last photos. They are very very slight. This is a beautiful pillowcase.
