Description: Item up for sale is a spectacular vintage electric mantel clock depicting FDR clutching a ship's wheel with wording of "F.D.R. The Man Of The Hour" along the bottom. Clock would have been made sometime around 1933 in celebration of FDR's victory over Herbert Hoover for President of the United States. This clock has NOT been tested as there is no wire attached and new owner will need to have it rewired prior to use. Clock setting is askew in the framing as you can see in photos and needs to be resent. Clock was made the United Clock Company with the body being constructed of a spelter metal with bronze tone finish. The finish of the clock is heavily worn with patina throughout and areas of oxidation. Metal shows no cracks or breaks that we can find. Glass dial cover shows no cracks or breaks with light soiling on the underside. Bezel shows tarnish and patina and could use a polish. Hands show some paint and finish wear. Original worn felt pad is on the underside of the base. Clock measures 15" top to bottom by 10-1/4" wide across the base by 4-3/8" in depth at the base.
