Description: This is a classic Favorite No 5 cast iron skillet. Favorite skillets were only made for a few years, 1916 to 1935 and are now about 90 to 100 years old. The cooking surface has patches of very fine etching from corrosion and light utensil scores. These are undetectable as you glide your fingers over a near glass smooth surface. There sheets of printer paper slipped under one side of the pan stops movement on a polished granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin.Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving. This item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal of all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. The item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hour. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, items may take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
