This set was originally issued in 1942 but this printing is from the 1968-79 era because it is printed on white stock cardboard.Exhibit Supply Company was established in 1901. For many years they manufactured vending machines for all types of cards and also printed the cards used for vending in the machines. Most sport card collectors are familiar with the baseball cards they printed from 1921 through 1966. Due to falling sales and the imminent retirement of the owner Chester Gore the company was put up for sale. In the fall of 1979 I purchased the company including the remaining equipment, card inventory, all assets, all files, and all of the company stock. The sets being sold are from that purchase of the Exhibit archives and are guaranteed to have been printed prior to our 1979 purchase. Since purchasing the company we issued two sets of baseball cards in 1980 and both sets have every card dated so there will be no confusion with prior issues. We have reprinted absolutely no cards. If reprints are in the market they are from other sources. With any purchase of these vintage sets we are including two additional items at no charge:1. Certificate of Authenticity. A sample is shown in this listing. It will be embossed with the corporate seal as shown and will be filled in and signed with the appropriate information.2. ESCO Exhibit Supply Co. Metal sign. These were put on machines for identification and are 4" x 3" in size.All Exhibit cards we are selling at this time are 3-3/8" x 5-3/8" in size.NOTE: Until 1968 the cardboard stock that Exhibit used for the their cards was cream color so the backs of the cards were cream.
