Pan Am is a second line horn manufactured by a division of C.G. Conn Ltd. The serial number is 63284. It is stamped "L" for 'low pitch', the desired tuning for modern use. This horn is being sold as is for restoration. It is not playable in its current state. It will likely require a full overhaul to be made playable. On the plus side, this horn is in overall very good physical condition, so it is an excellent candidate for an overhaul. The body is straight. There are a handful of minor pings/nicks, and a couple of slightly pushed in key-guard foot, but there are no significant dents or dings. The bow guard curvature has not been distorted, and the rim of the bell has never been bent. The neck has not been pulled down. The tenon and corked ends are both round. It fits easily into the neck receiver but won't budge once the screw is tightened. There is just one minor ping on the neck. I don't see any resoldered joints anywhere on the instrument. The keys are all moving freely and rebounding properly. The rollers are all turning. The lacquer finish is mostly intact, with scratching/scuffing throughout. The pads are old, and a leak light inspection reveals lots of leaks throughout. The neck cork is partially shredded. This horn comes in its original case. The case is solid, but well worn. There is lots of wear around the exterior edges. The latches still spring open and engage properly though. The interior is clean and odor free.
