Description: This is a vintage ceramic bluebird figurine by Chester Nicodemus. Nicodemus was a ceramic artist from Columbus, OH who fashioned figurines and other items from "ferro-stone", a description he used for a particular Ohio clay which turned red in the firing due to its iron content. Nicodemus died in 1990 and, on his death the molds for his various creations were destroyed which makes them quite rare and valuable today. The figurine is 6" long from beak to tail, is 2.5" wide at the widest point and stands 3.25" tall. There are no noticeable flaws and the figurine is marked on the bottom with Nicodemus' etched signature. There appears to be some gum residue on the bottom from a paper label but the label is missing.
