Brilhart is most well known for their mouthpieces, but the company made a full line of accessories, including several style of saxophone neck straps. This is a rather rare version, which has a woven black cord instead of a traditional neck pad. It also has a different cylinder style adjustment mechanism. I would guess that this strap dates to the 1950's or 60's. This strap is in very good condition. The cord is not frayed. The adjustment mechanism works properly. A lot of well known players used Brilhart straps back in the day. They are prominently featured on album covers by John Coltrane (Blue Trane) and Sonny Rollins (Newk's Time). If you want to play like those cats, you need this strap! Okay, I'm just joking, but it is cool nonetheless. Actually, I would say that this strap is more in the realm of collectible item as opposed to something for everyday use.
