Description: Good morning all. Here is a vintage Auburn Tool Co., Auburn, NY, Made in USA, No. 105 3/4" slip boxed side beading plane. The body is in generally nice condition. There are some dents on the heel, but not too many (9th picture). In terms of other condition issues, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1. The wedge has been hit a couple of times on the top. Worse, the bottom must have broken or chipped, and it is short (see pictures 5 and 17 - 19). For a user plane one could certainly make a new wedge.2. The iron has clearly been re-sharpened over time. It is sharp at the edge, The profile matches the sole. I don't know about the bevel angle. As many time as I have read Graham Blackburn's chapter on beading planes, I cannot get the hang of using them, so I don't know how well it cuts.3. The top of the iron has some peening that you can see in the pictures. The back of the iron is flat. The dark spot in the top right of the last picture is a dark spot, not a back bevel.4. Josiah Walt loved this plane. The name stamps are fine, but the crudely incised "W" on the heel is a little much. I don't see that the Auburn Catalogs online tells what wood the plane body would be, but it is a nice dense, heavy wood - the plane weighs just under 16 ounces.
