Description: ***********The Felsa 4462 automatic movement runs about 3 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 40 hour power reserve period. Given this and considering that it has likely been several decades since the movement was last serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.***********This seldom seen vintage 1970's Mondaine, which came from the estate of its original owner who was a retired Lieutenant Commander in the US Coast Guards, has a near pristine satin gray "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial and the original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow on only the hands after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The blue bezel, which shows wear and rotates a bit stiffly bidirectionally, presents nicely with the butterscotch lume pip complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. Between the lugs at 6 o'clock is the stamping "QX71." The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATERPROOF - INCABLOC - ANTIMAGNETIC - STAINLESS STEEL - SWISS MADE" with "200 METRES" followed by "AUTOMATIC" stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped "MONDAINE WATCH LTD." The crystal shows scratching and dust/debris on its underbelly. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "MONDAINE WATCH LTD" stamped Felsa 4462 automatic movement with semi-quickset date function runs strong, albeit a smidge fast, and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement ran about 3 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 40 hour power reserve period. The crown unscrews and screws back down as it should and it winds smoothly. Given that the movement runs fast and considering that it has likely been several decades since it was last serviced (there is one visible watchmaker service marking on the inside of the case back which appears to date to 1971/2) a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11.5 mm. This watch comes on a NOS, fully pliable 18 mm SUB strap with signature "MADE IN ITALY" stamped straight edge buckle. Given that the movement runs fast and considering it has likely been several decades since it was last serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
